Stories of Rocks (N3)
I have to admit, the subject of rocks didn't appeal to me at all. But I now find myself noticing and enjoying the stories the rocks are telling me after reading these selections. Although the writer of the first book used examples from the Pacific Coast for illustrative purposes, he said," ...most of them are of such a nature as to be applicable to any section of the country."
The second book was selected because I liked how the writer helps children learn to look for clues in the rocks. "There is one thing that the world has learned very slowly to do, and that is to look honestly at nature to see what is there, and then to use their common-sense in finding out the true meaning of what is seen."
These scientist-writers had no problems blending faith and science. The account of the creation in Genesis and the account recorded in the rocks, to them, is simply the same story told in two different ways.
